Renaissance Hangzhou Lin'an Hotel is an excellent family stay — a great-value family room, a clean hotel, a very good varied breakfast with fresh-fried dumplings in the morning and a tasty Chinese restaurant for dinner, a lawn outside for camping and a back door minutes from the Shishan park hike, metro and shuttle access, a pool uncrowded midweek, automatic lobby doors that welcome like coming home, and Yuanbao the mascot so loved a child suggested selling plush versions. Caveats though: the surrounds lack commerce, the nightclub-styled lobby skews young, and one dissent found breakfast quality average.
