Fairmont Le Montreux Palace is a perfect-by-most-accounts old-money hotel on the lake — a gorgeous pool, a distinctive spa, lovely on-property meals, very comfortable beds, and a delicious breakfast. Caveats though: one early-arrival guest waited until three pm in a low-floor room with a shower door that would not close, dated facilities and poor soundproofing, while another wanted the outdoor pool renovated bigger and classier.
