“Alice's 1874 villa near Heroes' Square”
Alice Hotel is a quiet, elegant garden hotel in an 1874 building — named for the owner's wife — beside Heroes' Square on Andrassy Avenue, near the historic M1 metro, the city park and the embassy street. Newly renovated tidy rooms are small but nice with little terraces, the garden breakfast is pleasant (if limited), and the restaurant manager is superb. Honest notes: the dim cramped lobby disappoints, the desk is not polite, no bottled water is provided, one bathroom sink was installed backwards, a hot-water outage occurred, guests report few staff around, breakfast variety is thin, and mosquito-prone travelers should cover up — one guest's toe swelled badly after bites.
