The Intrepid Hotel is a stylish exclusive-feeling Wellington boutique — perfectly-soundproofed interesting rooms, loved still-and-sparkling water taps on each floor, a great bar underneath with the sublime Puffin, and personal intimate service that regulars call the city's best-kept secret. Caveats though: a loyalist reports the property aging — loose shower tiles, damaged sinks and carpets, frayed bedding and stains, no longer worth the charge — and one room ran really cold with a damp smell.
