Hilton Garden Inn South Bend is an excellent hotel near Notre Dame — clean rooms with exceptionally-comfortable bedding, well-prepared delicious food, prompt excellent room service, an awesome pool, and helpful staff including a maintenance man who fixed TV issues. Caveats though: the lobby was a construction zone booking sites failed to flag, one guest's weekend pick revolved around a hot tub that sat broken with an out-of-order sign (an expensive disappointment), beds sit oddly high off the floor, and no breakfast is included.
