“DoubleTree Cairns' esplanade stay”
DoubleTree by Hilton Cairns is a friendly esplanade hotel — large clean comfortable rooms, the warm check-in cookie, sea-facing balconies (fireworks spotted), a good western restaurant with member discounts, a five-minute walk to the night market, lagoon and restaurants, though a bit far from the reef port. Caveats though: rooms and fittings run dated, a third-floor room smelled moldy and had its sea view tree-blocked, side-view balconies are the norm, a corner swap brought traffic noise, body-wash refills were missed despite a note, and lost children's clothes took two pickup trips.
