“Hilton Bankside's Tate-side stay, gripes”

Hilton London Bankside is a well-maintained London hotel — a nice spot behind the Tate Modern near the Thames, big clean rooms (connecting ones suit families), a nice ground-floor bar plus restaurant, two supermarkets outside, a very rich tasty breakfast (potato cakes praised), and wonderful helpful staff. The complaints: at check-in they tried charging for an already-paid stay and the deposit wasn't returned at checkout; a queue-skipping slight — an Asian guest waited while a later-arriving white guest was served first; terrible room insulation; a high bathtub that's hard to climb into and went unwiped, making it slicker; a checkout that's hugely troublesome; and a guest note went unanswered.

Rooms: Big, clean rooms; terrible insulation though.
Service: Wonderful staff; billing stumbles occurred though.
Location: Behind the Tate Modern, near the Thames.
Food: A very rich and tasty breakfast daily.
Facilities: A nice bar plus a restaurant inside.
Value: A decent Bankside stay for guests.
