Riad Laaroussa is a beautiful traditional riad oasis deep in the Fes medina — staff meet cars at the gate and carry luggage in, a gorgeous detailed building with spacious high-ceilinged rooms, fragrant toiletries, a relaxing courtyard, a rooftop restaurant serving excellent dinners and old-town-view breakfasts, a flower-ringed garden pool, a fabulous hammam and massage (Siham and Zineb praised), and super attentive non-invasive staff who arranged a brilliant medina tour. Two cautions: the riad is dark inside, and steep stairs (five flights for one, high steps to breakfast) challenge less-mobile guests; the spa struck one as ordinary.
