Hyatt Zilara Cancun suits travellers who want to unwind: an adults-only resort on the outer edge of Cancun's strip with its own open-sea beach and Hawaii-rivalling views, freshly renovated odour-free rooms, smiling staff and a packed activity list from Spanish classes to beach volleyball. A cancelled stay was graciously rebooked at sister resort Ziva. The honest downsides: the building is older and evenings congregate noisily in the central lobby, the restaurants are middling and salty beyond two worthwhile paid venues, the spa underwhelms, and a cockroach sighting required a room swap.
