InterContinental Real Santo Domingo is a clean good-smelling well-located hotel — spacious comfortable rooms, excellent food, a nice pool, and a professional client-oriented team (Ariel at the bar praised). Caveats though: a poor water heater left showers lukewarm-to-cold, the gym felt low-class, shops were thin, one guest listed small un-five-star touches (messy shower, plastic-bag coffee, no personal feel), and another ranked its breakfast below the JW next door.
