Santo Mauro, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Madrid is a beautifully decorated, impeccably clean luxury hotel with exceptional front-desk staff, an amazing breakfast and a lovely leafy courtyard bar — especially good in summer — plus easy access to the Bernabéu and the luxury shopping street. Families find it remarkably kid-friendly. Two real flags: suite 050 carried a persistent sewage odor the hotel blamed on the building's age and masked with overwhelming sprays, and the garden restaurant had several staff who spoke no English and served slowly. Most guests call it wonderful.
