The Gwen, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Michigan Avenue Chicago is an excellent cool stay for most — a very good central location with easy everywhere access, a spacious very modern clean room, a comfy bed, an outdoor terrace plus, a beautiful rooftop patio and a scene-stealing bar, free lobby coffee in lieu of in-room machines, a big tub separate from the walk-in shower, great sound insulation and quiet nights. Caveats though: some room windows face a too-near building with no view, and a severe dissent calls the hotel dated and not boutique — a dead TV, terrible water pressure and crass staff made an awful experience.
