The Midland is a very good classic British stay — a great city-centre location with walking, buses and dining all convenient, a big clean room, professional staff, high standards, and first-class decor and ambience; guests would stay again on the next visit. Caveats though: a severe service dissent gives one star — a leaking coffee machine flagged by note was never replaced and requested slippers never arrived — plus the odd bath-glass arrangement, and wishes for a mini fridge and greenery inside the room.
