“Budapest's café palace, bug blunder”
Anantara New York Palace Budapest is a magnificent old-money hotel built around the famous New York Café — guests skip its morning queue via included breakfast, Acqua di Parma toiletries, a terrace room with beautiful views, a small pool rare for European city hotels, and warm polite staff. One severe review details a chain of failures: told that over half the rooms are twins, beds merged with linens dropped on the floor, insect bites where bodies touched the bedding, a room change offered only as a paid upgrade, flies swarming the breakfast bread then post-meal illness, a shower door that trapped a guest then leaked after repair, no amenity refills, and a twenty-minute wait for slippers; the minus-one-floor pool attendant was the lone praise.
