“Penang's Gurney perch”
Penang Marriott Hotel is an excellent very good stay — right on Gurney Drive with cafés, restaurants and hawker stalls downstairs, a children's playground opposite, a kids-friendly setup and sights a short ride away, beautifully-appointed sea-view rooms that catch the sunrise, a well-equipped gym, a relaxing sunny pool, newer international-chain facilities, and warm staff — a smiling front-desk lady answered every question and the concierge's recommendations proved reliable. Caveats though: one guest had a slight hiccup at check-in, and the hotel sits outside the old-town heritage quarter.
