Plataran Menjangan Resort and Spa is a fabulous secluded private resort inside West Bali National Park — deer grazing under villa windows, monkeys, close-up endangered Bali starlings, a peaceful rooftop yoga spot, forest walks and mountain biking, a ten-minute speedboat to Menjangan Island snorkelling from the hotel pier, an order-as-much-as-you-want breakfast, and very attentive staff. Caveats though: mosquitoes bite freely (open-air bathrooms), leaving the park means dear hotel cars with no taxis or ride-hail, and dining is effectively on-site only.
