Beyond Kata is a scenic Kata resort — stunning sea views, direct beach access, a large green territory, excellent spacious clean rooms, a delicious outdoor breakfast with sea-view dining (beware food-snatching birds), a birthday-cake surprise, a good-value restaurant and pool bar, nearby shops, and helpful Chinese-speaking staff. The complaints: a severe pan — old hotel, worse maintenance, no eating allowed in rooms, ants and a bathroom cockroach, a poor breakfast, and a desk lady friendly to westerners, rude to us; a middle-aged desk staffer also read as indifferent; only the location and private beach redeemed it.
