Grand Hotel Soleil d'Or is a comfortable hotel in the heart of Megève — a three-minute walk to the ski lifts, five minutes to the bus terminal, a free ski-stop shuttle, a nice hot tub, a chocolatier for afternoons, a great breakfast, and amazing friendly staff (two desk gentlemen praised). Caveats though: avoid the smaller attic rooms with roof windows and open-plan bathrooms, an elevator-adjacent room was noisy at all hours, a colleague's chalet upgrade stung, and crying small children surprised one guest.
