“Blaue Reiter's split”
Hotel der Blaue Reiter is a brilliant well-liked stay for many — a modern hotel near Durlach's old town four kilometers from Karlsruhe by taxi or tram, comfortable air-conditioned rooms, an unheard-of all-complimentary minibar of beer, water, soda and coffee, free street parking nearby, a nice attached beer garden, top check-in, staff, room and breakfast making one guest feel welcome from the first minute, and wonderful staff across twice-yearly family visits. Caveats though: a dissent finds the facilities too old and the reception frequently unable to speak English, while a loyalist says it is ready for updates — a visibly-dusty red velvet headboard and AC limited to certain hours.
