“Ponta Delgada's perch”
Mercure Ponta Delgada Azores is a beautiful very good stay — a beautiful building in a great central location about ten minutes' walk from the water, a lovely swimming pool and spa, a gorgeous outdoor pool area, a delicious spacious onsite bar and restaurant, a very good breakfast, newer facilities, big rooms for Europe, and a very helpful friendly desk full of island recommendations; very recommended. Caveats though: the free car park has only twelve spaces and fills when busy; one guest felt the staff did not really love Americans; and driving in is not the easiest.
