Grand Mercure Imperial Palace Seoul Gangnam is a great base stay — a really good Seoul location with a Starbucks downstairs and the metro near, a spotless modern cozy spacious room, high-level service from greeter to concierge to front desk with warm responsive smooth communication, and luggage carried to the car on departure. Caveats though: the hardware shows its age with dated palace-style decor, housekeeping fell short of five-star — a lost room card and an untouched laundry bag — a shower switch stuck mid-flow, there is no ice bucket, bathroom lighting runs dim, and some facilities were under maintenance.
