Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit is a great excellent stay — an excellent Sukhumvit location where a second-floor exit links straight to public transport, a well-stocked 7-Eleven across the footbridge, salsa bars within a kilometre, Michelin-listed dining walkable, and cafés downstairs, with a great-view gym, a recommended Japanese restaurant on the first floor, a rich breakfast, and Thai service that is smiling and unhurried without crowding. Caveats though: one stay saw a municipal power outage — the hotel notified everyone thoroughly the day before — and the nightlife street beside the hotel is lively in a way that will not suit everyone.
