Melia Phuket Mai Khao is a beautiful, quiet seaside resort — spacious well-equipped rooms and pool villas with plunge pools for moonlight soaks, a gorgeous seawater pool behind which the beach sits for sunset walks, sand-free floors, amazing food and restaurant atmosphere, walkable well-rated inexpensive restaurants, smooth check-in and checkout, and friendly attentive service suited to couples. Complaints: a remote spot (Turtle Village is a ten-minute ride); a filling-but-narrow breakfast; a non-free minibar; rough room fittings; and one severe account — guests were offloaded from a buggy while later-boarded white guests were driven first, and the AC cut at 11:30 before a noon checkout while buggies take forever to arrive.
