Melia Koh Samui is a beautiful, dream-like resort — top-notch beach access and a big pretty pool, excellent food and drinks, a distinctive Duplex Boat Suite converted from an old teak rice barge with a net-hammock balcony, a kids club children loved, a calm nice beach, and impressive advising staff (Mac the manager, Ke, Ake and the lobby team earn Thai-language thanks). Honest notes: the vibe is very loud — screaming children and poolside music go unchecked — a pool renovation ran for half of one stay, service is kind but not fast, room facilities are ordinary, and the executive lounge dining was poorly handled — no menu offered until guests were full, then a passport was requested unnecessarily.
