San Carlos Hotel New York is a lovely old-school stay — a third-visit-in-a-year favourite in an ideally-convenient location, friendly helpful staff whose service guests call the best thing, a very clean large room with two comfortable double beds, a spacious comfortable suite, and all facilities present despite slightly outdated decor; highly recommended. Caveats though: it sits about twenty minutes' walk from Times Square, and mornings run noisy given the weak soundproofing.
