“Montecito Inn's split”
Montecito Inn is a cute lovely stay — a beautifully-refurbished older hotel with a charming vintage elevator, a blend of charm and modern convenience, an ideal spot in an affluent area within walking distance of great restaurants and Butterfly Beach with shops at the door and easy freeway access, clean quiet rooms with robes and slippers, included valet parking (a great perk), and amazing friendly kind staff. Caveats though: it was promoted with a spa that does not exist (a miles-away one was recommended), a dissent reports a surprise several-hundred post-checkout card charge that turned out to be an under-collected tax — applied without notice — plus a bare-bones coffee-fruit-and-donuts breakfast and very bad wifi that could not handle email.
