“Padre's retro Bakersfield”
Padre Hotel is Bakersfield's best per fans — a historic renovated building with retro decor, spacious clean rooms, a decent restaurant, a fun lively bar with good cocktails, a good location near dive bars, and helpful welcoming valets; a failed air conditioner during hundred-degree days brought a prompt room move. Caveats though: both elevators were out during one stay and the surviving lift is slow anyway, and some found the welcome less warm than hoped.
