Grand Hotel Karel V, WorldHotels Luxury is a lovely Utrecht centre hotel beside the station — a beautiful inner courtyard terrace, a good restaurant and bar, a small spa, complete facilities, newly renovated rooms (though no bathtub, unusual for the class), bike parking, and a warm front desk; canal dining and sights like the Dom are an easy walk. Two dissents: a guest did not feel welcome — very disappointing — and the thirty-five-euro breakfast is called over the top when surrounding cafés serve excellent breakfasts for half; a small laundry glitch also occurred.
