Two or three hundred metres from Plaza Mayor, this hotel wins on location, a chic beautifully-decorated interior, clean rooms, warm Filipino staff and a superb breakfast of fresh fruit with local and international choices; most of central Madrid is walkable and the metro is steps away. Dissents are sharp though: some rooms are small and windowless with a giant sofa bed squeezing tiny wardrobes and tea tables, and more than one guest questioned the value for the rate.
