Certosa di Pontignano Residenza d'Epoca is a beautiful good stay — a very quiet well-maintained former monastery just ten minutes' drive from Siena, great facilities, a fantastic breakfast, warm winter rooms with great heating, a huge discounted suite and a big bed for one guest, and a simple-but-delicious dinner where dessert can be skipped since the breakfast serves it anyway; photogenic and booked on the strength of its reviews. Caveats though: one guest missed air conditioning and found the room decor plain.
