“Ben Yehuda convenience, upkeep stumbles”
Herbert Samuel Jerusalem sits in an unbeatable downtown spot — the light rail at the door, Ben Yehuda Street outside, thirty minutes' walk to the Western Wall, a copious self-serve breakfast, helpful friendly staff, and clean rooms for most; repeat guests keep booking. But dissenters call it sub-five-star: a smelly room with an awful mattress and feather pillows, cigarette odor in corridors, a corridor water leak, night noise, a child-crowded basement pool, dirty breakfast tables, unmanned egg stations — and one arrival found no promised parking, a disputed tax charge, and a wrong room swapped after dark.
