“Marquesa's split verdict”
Palacio de Marquesa is a lovely amazing stay for the setting — adorable rooms among flower courtyards in a beautiful quiet Taos neighborhood, the Matriarch suite with a library for readers, a fridge and a dreamy feel for a twentieth anniversary, a wonderful fresh breakfast, accommodating staff knowledgeable about the area, a very safe property, and shops within walking distance. Caveats though: nobody set up breakfast on two of three mornings, forcing off-property plans; the grounds were unswept and a door dirty; only a noisy portable air conditioner rather than central cooling; and after the innkeeper's late-afternoon departure, there was a lack of onsite staff for check-in and other needs.
