“Hotel Nesplein's rescue”
Hotel V Nesplein is a superb excellent stay — a great central Amsterdam spot three minutes from the metro and five from Dam Square, quiet despite the centre thanks to a setback from the main road, a lovely vintage-styled bigger-than-expected room with a heated drying rack, a lobby restaurant and bar for rainy days, good restaurant service, and seriously-responsible staff who phoned and emailed about forgotten documents then delivered them to the platform so the guest caught their Paris train; deeply touching service.
