“Mestre gateway base, ant incident”
Hilton Garden Inn Venice Mestre San Giuliano is a convenient first Venice stop — ten-plus minutes from the airport by taxi, buses to the island and station at the door (buy tickets at the desk; city buses stop early), a big pool with loungers, an acceptable fresh breakfast, decent dinners, big beds and a garage. One stay went badly: ants in wall seams met a spray-not-swap response, a re-request yielded a smaller corner room with no apology, roadside noise persists, dust sat in corners, windows don't open, and bottled water charges apply to non-members.
