Áurea Palacio de la Tinta is a gorgeous new Malaga hotel set in a famous old building — chic understated design with ten-foot ceilings, spotless luxurious rooms and a shower one guest calls as good as it gets. The central location walks to the centre, Alcazaba and beach, staff are extremely friendly (Pablo, Hose, Angelina, Luis, Victor and bar-head Marcos are named), complementary birthday gifts and a thoughtful checkout bag delight, breakfast is delicious, and the rooftop bar is stunning though the pool is small with plenty of seating. One caveat: service ran slow in the opening week — expected to improve.
