Six Senses Kyoto, opened in 2024, exceeds expectations with an elegant Japanese-zen design, a photogenic courtyard, large rooms around forty-two square metres, an amazing onsen bath and a pool one guest calls their best swim ever. Service is intimate and impeccable, with daily rotated snacks, a distinctive minibar, many experience programs and a farewell gift of little daruma dolls; breakfast is excellent and healthy across Kyoto and Western styles. Two small complaints: a pungent quilt smell persisted even after replacement, and sharp cabinet edges can cut hands.
