“Cairn Edinburgh's compact, mixed stay”
Cairn Hotel & Apartments is a clean Edinburgh hotel — a great location ten-to-fifteen minutes from the station and centre, welcoming staff who held bags and upgraded a pair to an apartment for their anniversary beside Calton Hill, a reasonable breakfast with a sunny outdoor area, snacks included, and small but complete rooms with hairdryer, kettle and iron. The complaints are sharp: a rubbish tiny broken room beside the stairwell — very noisy with no lift, a dirty quilt, an old grubby sill and terrible insulation; bring your own slippers and toiletries (only towels and soap supplied); the bed suits a solo sleeper; wifi is weak; and big luggage still needs a taxi.
