The Kahala is an old-money-style Honolulu resort — beautiful grounds between the beach and golf course, huge rooms with twin vanities, separate tubs and sea balconies, a unique paid dolphin encounter, free beach loungers, a hot pool, easy valet with no extra parking charges, and a buffet that's tasty if a little dear. Less convenient than Waikiki and its beach is quieter though less pretty. One guest found service surprisingly poor — no bell help, a broken phone and jammed tap, and a thirty-minute wait for maintenance.
