Palais Coburg is a wonderful loved stay — a stunningly beautiful palais built in the eighteen-forties for Duke Ferdinand atop the mid-fifteen-hundreds Brown Bastion, now a superb five-star luxury hotel, residence and cultural-events venue beside one of Vienna's rare surviving defensive-wall remnants, excellent hotel and amenities, wonderful attentive excellent staff, and a unique highlight: touring the immense varied wine cellars with a tasting, plus concerts like a saxophone quartet at the Bastion. Caveats though: guest rooms were under renovation during one visit.
