Almanac Palais Vienna is a baroque old-building conversion filled with art — high ceilings, wonderful room finishes, butler-style service where every staffer smiles and opens doors, a breakfast highlight of à-la-carte eggs Benedict and avocado-smoked-salmon eggs plus a great chia-passionfruit dish, and trams and the U4 at the door in the old town. Flaws: rooms were found very dusty (a TV cabinet full of it), the breakfast area underwhelms, laundry comes back reeking of soap, there's no luggage delivery, the gym/pool route and room layout confuse, and a mirrored ceiling above the bed divides taste.
