Augustus Hotel & Resort is a Forte dei Marmi hotel in lush pine gardens — comfortable beds, gracious toddler-accommodating staff, great breakfasts, a lovely beach, and shabby-chic Lido charm in the sea-facing extension; note though that old-villa rooms differ greatly from new-building ones and classics felt very old. Caveats: a narrow step-free shower hard to shave in, no in-room coffee machine, limited pool hours, and a severe review calling the beach club fleecing with no rain refund and bad restaurant food.
