The Eliot Hotel is a residential-street Boston classic just off Newbury Street — every employee greets you, suite upgrades happen, rooms are spacious and comfortable with kettles, and the front desk is warm. The building shows age though: one guest waited thirty minutes locked out of their suite, got locked out again, and was moved to a suite with a broken door chain; chipped paint, worn furniture, small windows and dim lighting undercut the boutique charm; carpets are very old, slippers absent, breakfast meagre, and an AC vent blows straight onto the bed.
