“Melbourne's victoria hotel”
On a small street beside the town hall in the free-tram zone — Chinatown and the CBD walkable — The Victoria Hotel is a good-value historic stay: an 1880 former coffee palace with antique cabinets, clean tidy bright rooms with reconfigurable wheeled beds for luggage space, a pool, gym and water dispenser, machine check-in and a quick fix for a noisy night air conditioner. Cautions: a finicky sliding shower door and no slippers or bottled water.
