“Quirky Auckland boutique, upkeep slips”
Hotel DeBrett is a wonderful, quirky boutique in central Auckland — close to Queen Street, the harbour and ferries — with an eclectic spoiling feel, a calm atmosphere, comfortable beds and a praised loft upgrade. Its Vivace restaurant earns raves for small plates and the breakfast and bar are well liked, while staff are super helpful and accommodating. The main caveat is upkeep: one guest found the large room poorly maintained, with a stained carpet, worn decor and a grubby sofa, and suggested cleanliness-focused travellers consider a five-star chain instead. A salty breakfast note also appears.
