“Central vintage value, a check-in fiasco”

Room Mate Collection Alba, Madrid is a small, exquisite vintage-vibe hotel in a walk-everywhere central spot — clean decent-sized rooms with big comfy beds, balconies, icy air conditioning, free water and a better breakfast than some neighbours; a surprise 10am check-in delighted one guest. But one stay unravelled at the desk: a separately booked extra night was never keyed in, the agent walked off mid-check-in, the issued key opened an occupied room, and no apology came. Breakfast orders can mean shouting into the kitchen, and one room ran dim with a leaking shower.

Service: Friendly and flexible, but one check-in fiasco.
Rooms: Big comfy rooms; some run dim, showers leak.
Location: A superb walk-everywhere central Madrid position.
Food: A good breakfast; ordering can take patience.
Cleanliness: Clean, well-kept rooms throughout the stay.
