“Avant-garde palazzo on the Grand Canal”
The Venice Venice Hotel is the biggest surprise of some guests' Italy trips — a 13th-century Byzantine building on the Grand Canal where twenty-some rooms are each inspired by a different artist or movement and the canal-side lobby nods to Carlo Scarpa, deliberately escaping the typical art-hotel mold. Every detail feels considered, down to creative toiletries, and the à-la-carte breakfast served by the water is called wonderful. It is conveniently placed for the main island plus Murano and Burano, and staff accommodated a late checkout. Reviews contain no real complaints.
