“Broadview's vinyl charm, bar rumble”
The Broadview Hotel is a cool old Toronto gem on the Queen streetcar line — a lovely neighbourhood of indie bars and stores, clean comfortable spacious rooms with nice touches, a roomy shower and robe, a very good breakfast, a rooftop restaurant with great city views, and welcoming staff who help with taxis and directions. Noise is the issue: rooms under the rooftop bar hear post-close furniture dragging, doors bang in the early morning, and one new-wing room (602) audibly carries the bar's plumbing overhead. The in-room vinyl players were too worn to use — called a gimmick — and one no-tip day went unserviced.
