Alvear Icon Hotel is called the most impressive Buenos Aires hotel by one guest: a breathtaking crystal-chandelier lobby, dance-party-spacious rooms, a soaking tub facing Rio de la Plata sunsets, a rooftop infinity pool and perfectly trained staff whose room-service steaks rival the famous restaurants. Service shines at odd hours too — an early-morning arrival was offered a spa shower to refresh before luggage storage. The location beside Puente de la Mujer is calm and excellent with dining and views. One quibble: the elegant minibar cabinet stood nearly empty with no tea or coffee machine — odd at this level.
