Pacific Monarch Hotel is a well-located Honolulu hotel on the Kapiolani Park side — near Diamond Head, the beach, shops and dining, very clean spacious rooms with complete cooking facilities, an early 10am check-in granted, reasonable ground-floor eats (Mee BBQ, spam musubi), comparatively modest never-full parking, and one older manager whose sincere manner left a memory. The complaints: aging facilities — a road-facing room had no soundproofing against traffic; bedding sometimes smelled; an ocean-view booking delivered a queen-plus-singles room with window-sill ants and a moldy smell — the swap request was refused as 'full' despite visibly-empty rooms; and parking payment runs on a separate second-floor machine.
