Art Deco Hotel Montana is a hilltop Lucerne favourite — amazing views over the lake, Mt Pilatus and the city, a funicular for quick up-and-down, suites with balcony spa tubs, Dyson dryers, adjustable beds, an excellent buffet breakfast, and extremely friendly accommodating staff near restaurants and the station. Two serious complaints though: one room stayed 27.5°C all night despite assurances until a portable AC finally arrived, and another guest felt deceived — breakfast excluded despite a high nightly rate and a promised penthouse upgrade that wasn't the penthouse next door.
